Lasker Rink and Pool opened in 1966 in Central Park, New York City. In winter it's a skating rink, and in summer it's turned into a public swimming pool. Admission is free, but you must bring your own supplies. And no strollers are allowed. The Lasker Pool opens July 1st and closes after Labor Day. It's hours of operation are 11 am-3 pm and 4 pm-7 pm 7 days a week. Lesser known hours are part of the Early Bird and Night Owl Lap Swim Program. The programs are from 7 am - 8:30 am, and 7 pm - 8:30 pm. The Early Bird and Night Owl Sessions are adults only and have been around for 31 years. Here's to hoping this year makes 32. Swimmers who complete 25 miles by Aug. 30 receive a T-shirt with the logo of their session (rooster or night owl). The 3 swimmers who have completed the most miles by Aug. 9 compete in an intra-pool competition for a medal. So if you're in NYC looking for some lap time, look no further. I'd go myself but I can't swim, and I'm not in New York City lol. Check out their page for more information on Lasker Pool.
