Pool Pro Jailed for Reckless Endangerment

It might seem a little crazy that a pool service guy was arrested for second-degree reckless endangerment for doing his job, but you might change your mind after knowing what happened. On the morning of January 9, in Norwalk, Connecticut, Alfredo Bahena-Benitez drained the water from an in-ground pool located at 1 Westview Ln with a hose and ran the hose to the edge of Flaxhill Avenue. By doing so, he discharged the water into the roadway; just uphill of a dangerous "S" turn. Bahena-Benitez inadvertently caused multiple accidents with that simple action. When officers arrived, they found a 69-year old woman behind the wheel of a Subaru that had spun 180 degrees and struck the guardrail on the other side of the road. Shortly after, a Jeep Liberty spun out while braking and was then hit by a Subaru Forester which caused it to spin again. Thankfully there were no injuries in the two crashes. A third accident occurred when a Nissan Rogue struck the Jeep Liberty then struck the DPW plow truck attempting to apply salt to the roadway. The driver of the Nissan Rogue was taken to the hospital for her injuries and was released later in the day. Investigating officers determined that Bahena-Benitez' actions were responsible for the accidents. They summoned him back to the scene and promptly arrested and charged him with second-degree reckless endangerment.
