Drowning is a major concern all over the world, that's why there are organizations dedicated to lower the number of drowning victims everywhere. One of the organizations in the UK is the RLSS, or Royal Life Saving Society. The RLSS is a charity and the Governing Body for Lifesaving Sport and Lead Industry Body. They train lifeguards,  set standards, provide guidance, and advice on aquatic safety. Members spend time:
  • Promoting water safety education and life support in the community
  • Training lifesavers and lifeguards in accident prevention, survival, rescue, life support, emergency afetercare and first aid
  • Researching drowning causes and effects
  • Developing educational resources and technical expertise
Their visions statement is "To safeguard lives in, on and near water." Their mission statement is "To inform and educate everyone in water safety and resuscitation and to increase annually the number of people trained in water rescue." For more information on the RLSS check out their website here.
