What Does a skimmer Do

Have you ever wondered what your pool skimmer does? Or why you even need one?? A skimmer is a definite must if you want your pool to stay free of most debris. It works by skimming, pulling in, surface water to skim any floating objects along with the water before they sink to the bottom of your pool. Once the water goes into the skimmer it pours over the weir, a pivoting flap, and the debris is caught in the skimmer basket. The water is then sent through a pipe at the bottom to go through the filter pump. When the pump is off, the weir floats to an upright position to debris from floating back into your pool.
